Where golfers get better – together
What drill actually helped?
Golf is full of advice.
Watch this video.
Read this book,
Try this drill.
Fix this move.
Change this grip.
Practice this for 20 minutes a day.
The problem?
Not all of it actually works.
So let's skip the theory.
What drill actually helped your game?
Could be:
driving
irons
chipping
putting
tempo
contact
alignment
short game
mental game
Anything.
What's the one drill that made you stop and think:
"Okay... that actually helped."
Drop it below.
Let's hear it.
Because we've all tried drills that worked a lot better on YouTube than they did on the golf course.
For me, it wasn't some complicated drill.
It was slowing down.
Specifically, making myself pause for a second at the top of my backswing and focus on tempo instead of trying to swing faster and harder.
The funny thing is I spent a long time thinking more effort would create better shots.
Turns out my golf game had other ideas.
The slower and more controlled I feel, the better my contact usually gets. This is very true - even my practice session last night I let myself get into my head and I kept swinging like a baseball player instead of what I know I need to do - slow, pause, and finish a great swing.
Now, do I remember that every practice sessions or more importantly every round?
Absolutely not.
But when I do, playing golf is a lot more enjoyable and keeps me energized and enthusiastic about my addiction.
