Settle in. Let’s talk golf.

Everybody has a story.

Some people grew up playing.
Some got dragged to the course by friends.
Some got addicted after one pure shot.
Some are still trying to figure out why they keep coming back after chunking three wedges in a row.

So —
what got YOU into golf?

Was there a moment where the game clicked?

A friend?
A parent?
A random scramble?
A YouTube rabbit hole?
Mid-life crisis purchase of irons?
Pure frustration turning into obsession?

No perfect answers here.

Just real golf stories.

Drop yours below.

I got into golf later than most people.
And honestly, I wasn’t athletic either, which made it even harder.

Then I started getting invited to play, and after wanting to for a long time, that was really the catalyst that finally got me into the game.

At first I thought:
“How hard can this really be?”

That lasted about 5 minutes.

Then golf immediately humbled me in ways I didn’t know were possible.

But somewhere between:
* the occasional great shot
* trying to figure out the swing
* range sessions
* frustrating and morale-depleting rounds
* random breakthroughs
* and realizing how mental this game really is…

I got hooked.

Addicted, really.

What started as:
“I just want to get decent”

slowly turned into:
wanting to actually understand the game and improve.

Still working on that part.

Golf has a very efficient way of making you feel like you finally figured something out right before proving otherwise.

And honestly…
that’s probably part of why I keep coming back.

Hope you’re as addicted as I am.

If not… give it time.

Competition is one of the greatest gifts we get to experience. It builds many of the qualities people strive for; determination, resilience, patience, and discipline.

Growing up, I played a sport every season: football, basketball, baseball, and track & field. I loved competing and seeing how hard work translated into improvement. But after graduating college, I realized something was missing. I missed having something to chase.

I picked up golf simply because I wanted a hobby... something to distract me from the stresses of everyday life. What I found was that same feeling of competition I'd been missing. The difference was that it wasn't me versus someone else anymore; it was me versus myself.

Every round is an opportunity to be better than I was yesterday. Every shot is a chance to learn, adjust, and improve. Waking up with the goal of beating my previous round is what keeps me coming back.

That's what I love most about golf. The competition never ends because your greatest opponent is the person you were yesterday.
