If you’re new to golf and trying to make sense of the game, you’re exactly who this site was built for.
And if you’ve played before, stepped away, or realized the fundamentals never quite clicked, you’ll probably feel at home here too.
Bogey to Scratch is a beginner-first golf site built to make the game easier to understand – without being overwhelmed, intimidated, or sold to.
That’s the whole idea: simple explanations, honest lessons, practical gear help, and small changes that can lead to better golf.
I picked up golf later than most people.
No childhood lessons.
No lifelong head start.
Just a bucket of range balls, some borrowed advice, and a lot of questions.
What surprised me wasn’t how hard golf was (even though it is) – it was how unclear the learning path felt.
Golf wasn’t just hard – it was hard to understand.
There was plenty of content for:
• Absolute beginners – until you made contact
• Advanced players – if you already spoke the language
But not much for someone who actually wanted to understand the game from the ground up.
Bogey to Scratch exists to fill that gap.
This site documents what I’m learning as a beginner – the mistakes, the reps that matter, what helped, and what didn’t so you don’t have to start from zero or feel lost along the way.
The site is:
• Not to impress anyone
• Not to sell you anything
• Just to make golf more understandable
You don’t need to read everything.
You don’t need to figure it all out today.
Start small. Pick one area. Let it build.
Golf doesn’t reward rushing – and neither does getting better.
You don’t need to do everything.
Just start where it makes sense.
