Let’s be honest:

Golf has a LOT of confusing stuff in it.

Rules.
Etiquette.
Equipment.
Swing thoughts.
Scoring.
Why one wedge goes 40 yards farther than the exact same swing 10 minutes later.

And sometimes asking questions in golf spaces can feel… intimidating.

Not here.

This thread exists for:

beginner questions
awkward questions
“I should probably know this by now” questions
rules questions
equipment questions
first-round questions
all of it

Seriously.

Ask the dumb golf question.

Most of the time, other golfers are wondering the exact same thing.

We’ve all been there.

Go ahead. Ask the question.
We’re all figuring this ridiculous game out together.

I’ll start with one that confused me for WAY longer than it probably should have.

Why does golf have so many wedges that all basically look identical?

At first I thought:
“A pitching wedge should be enough for basically everything close.”

Then suddenly there’s:
* gap wedges
* sand wedges
* lob wedges
* bounce
* grind
* loft degrees
* and people casually carrying four wedges like they’re assembling the Avengers.

Golf really does have a way of making simple things feel wildly complicated.

Still figuring some of that out.

The deeper you get into golf, the more you realize everyone is just trying to manage their game slightly better than the group behind them.
