Where golfers get better – together
What part of your game frustrates you most?
Golf has a funny way of making you feel like you've solved something...
Right before reminding you that you haven't.
So let's hear it.
What part of your game frustrates you most right now?
Could be:
driver consistency
putting
short game
bunker shots
course management
confidence
mental game
making good decisions
all of the above
No judgment here.
We've all spent at least one round convincing ourselves we've identified the problem.
Then spent the next round discovering a completely different one.
Drop your answer below.
Let's hear it.
Golf is very creative when it comes to finding new ways to test your patience.
Consistency.
Not a very exciting answer, but it's the truth.
I've hit enough good shots to know they're in there.
The frustrating part is convincing them to show up every time I play.
One hole I'll feel like I've finally figured something out.
The next hole I'll be standing over the ball wondering if I've ever played golf before.
(It reminds me of that scene from Happy Gilmore where he's yelling at the ball as it stops inches from the hole.)
For me, it's usually not one specific club or one specific shot.
It's putting together enough solid swings, good practice habits, and confidence in my swing over an entire round.
Golf has a way of making progress feel obvious—and making you feel great and confident—one day, and completely frustrating the next.
The mental game is real.
Still working on that.
Pretty sure I always will be.
I put "putting" three times in the subject because that's about how many putts it usually takes me to finish a hole once I reach the green.
This year, I've started making some investments in my golf bag, including a new putter.
The issue isn't reading the green—it's speed. I'm constantly caught between racing the ball three feet past the hole or leaving a birdie putt a foot short.
The good news is that putting is one of the more fixable parts of golf. I'm sitting at a 15 handicap right now, and I think there's a realistic path to 11 or 12 if I can start converting more opportunities on the green.
I feel this one!
Putting has a special talent for making a 15-foot birdie putt feel impossible and a 3-foot comeback putt feel terrifying.
I completely agree though—speed control seems to be where scores quietly improve. The good news is you're already at a 15, which means shaving a few three-putts and converting a few more makeable putts can add up fast.
Also, if a new putter automatically fixed speed control, I'd probably own six of them by now.
