Where golfers get better – together
First club recommendations?
One of the most common questions new golfers ask is:
"What clubs should I buy?"
And honestly...
The number of options can feel overwhelming.
Complete sets.
Used clubs.
Game improvement irons.
Drivers.
Hybrids.
Wedges.
Brands you've heard of.
Brands you've never heard of.
So let's help the next golfer out.
What would you recommend for someone buying their first clubs?
Could be:
- a complete beginner set
- a specific club
- buying used
- buying new
- something you wish someone had told you sooner
No wrong answers.
Just real experiences from golfers who've already been through it.

Let's hear it.
The goal isn't buying perfect clubs. It's getting out and playing.
For me, I'd start with a beginner-friendly set and focus more on learning the game than chasing equipment.
When I started, I quickly realized there are enough things to figure out in golf without worrying about whether your clubs are tour-level equipment.
The good news?
You don't need the most expensive clubs to learn and improve.
You just need clubs that help you build confidence and get out on the course.
One thing I wish I had known earlier is that forgiving clubs are your friend.
A lot of golfers spend years thinking they need clubs that look impressive.
I've learned I'd much rather have clubs that help me enjoy golf.
If you're looking for ideas, check out the BTS Gear pages.
I put them together specifically for newer and returning golfers who are trying to figure out where to start without falling into the "I need to spend a fortune" trap.
Golf is expensive enough already.
